The Good, Bad News

Last Friday, I had an upper GI.

The good news is, I think they have found out what is wrong with me.

Finally!

I have acid reflux, a hiatal hernia, and ulcers.

No wonder I have not been feeling well.

They have me on Protonix for the acid reflux and thankfully my insurance is now paying for it.

I am suppose to see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible. So after giving the nurse times I was available this week and next, she called the Dr. to set up an appointment. Well when she called back to tell me the date it is set for March 23rd.

So much for getting in right away.

I am hoping they will not have to do surgery to repair the hernia.

Maybe I should have kept my gallbladder!

Oh Gresha! How frustrating that "as soon as possible" is over a month away--Geesh! And I wondered about the gallbladder too! Was that all for nothing? Can they put it back?! (tee hee)

Hi Gretchen
Is it weird that I'm reading your blog eventhough I haven't talked to you in person since... your wedding?
I was so struck by your 'health entry'. My BFF (ha! I'm a teenager again!) had/is having the same experiences. She had her gull bladder out too, turns out her doc said after the fact that a ton of people get it out only to find out that wasn't the problem. Grrr. Well, I'm feeling your pain...kinda, at least through my friend. She is has found a specialist who seems to be helping her a little now.
I hope you are on the way to recovery!!
